A car that will not start is the same problem as a flat tyre: you are stuck somewhere you did not plan to be. We treat it the same way: come to you, work out what is wrong, and tell you honestly what it needs.

Battery replacement
If the battery genuinely will not hold charge, a jump start only buys you a day or two. We supply and fit the right replacement, and take the old one away.

- Tested again before we leave
We test before we sell. If the battery is fine and the fault is elsewhere, we will say so rather than fit one you did not need.

Slow, laboured cranking
The engine turns over reluctantly, especially first thing on a cold morning. Usually the battery losing capacity.

Dashboard lights but no start
Lights come on, nothing happens when you turn the key. Often a flat battery, sometimes not. Worth testing rather than replacing blind.

It died after a short trip
Lots of short journeys never fully recharge a battery. It can be fine for months and then fail on the coldest morning of the year.

Needed a jump recently
A battery that has gone flat once will often do it again. Worth having it tested before it strands you somewhere less convenient.

Do you come out at night for a flat battery?
Yes. Fly Tyres operates 24 hours a day, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. Ring and a person will answer. How quickly we can reach you depends on where you are and what is already booked in, so ask on the call and you will get a straight answer.
Will I definitely need a new battery?
Not necessarily. We test the battery and the charging system before recommending anything. Sometimes a battery just needs charging properly, and sometimes the problem is not the battery at all. You will be told what we actually find.
Can you fit a battery at my house or at work?
Yes. Battery replacement is done wherever the vehicle is standing, or at our tyre centre in Chesham if you would rather drive in. The old battery goes away with us for recycling either way.
Do you jump start vans and 4x4s as well as cars?
Yes, cars, vans and 4x4s. If you tell us the make and model when you call, we will arrive with the right equipment for it.
